Speech practice, made into an adventure
Sound Adventure is a free practice companion for children working on their speech sounds. Your child helps a little fox reach the treasure โ and every clear word moves them one step closer.
Free to use ยท No cost, no adverts ยท Works on phones, tablets and computers
Choose a sound
Pick the sound your child is working on โ like S, K, R, L, F, SH, CH or TH โ and whether to practise it at the start, middle or end of words.
Say it together
Picture cards prompt each word. An adult marks "Said it!" or "Try again", and a gentle voice can model the word or sound it out piece by piece.
See progress grow
Finish a round and open a present to collect an animal. Parents and teachers can look back at words that need more practice and how often you've played.
Who it's for
๐ฉโ๐ฆ Parents and carers
If your child is practising speech sounds at home โ perhaps with support from a speech and language therapist โ Sound Adventure gives you ready-made word lists, a way to keep practice short and fun, and a record of how it's going. No speech therapy experience needed.
๐ซ Teachers and schools
School leaders can set up a school, invite teachers by email, and add children to groups. Each child can have their own targets, sounds and visual settings, so practice fits the child rather than the other way round.
Why it was created
Sound Adventure was made by me, Jack Green โ a father of two children, one of whom has additional speech needs. Like many families, we were asked to fit short, regular practice around everyday life, and it was hard to keep it fun for a small child, or to remember which words were tricky and which had clicked.
So this app was made for children like ours: a game that feels like a treat rather than a worksheet, with a grown-up always in charge of what "good enough" sounds like. Everything in it โ the fox, the treasure, the presents โ exists to keep a five-year-old coming back for one more round.
It is deliberately simple and free, and it will never replace your child's speech and language therapist โ it is a way to make the practice they recommend easier to actually do.
